Taylors Web Design UK & Web 2.0 Styles...
Web 2.0 is a phrase now used to describe new styles of user friendly web sites that include many interactive features such as RSS Feeds and Weblogs which are becoming increasingly popular all over the web.....
Web 2.0 has also directly effected web design as a whole, where as sites were judged by what they did as opposed to how they look it wasn’t going to take long for aesthetics to play a part in the promotion of web sites. Many people believe the over all simplicity of the web 2.0 style is based on the programmers and web developers having to concentrate so much on the functionabilty and the coding of a site that they needed a style that was nice to look at but simple to create - Web 2.0 style was born.
Some of the major features of Web 2.0 are:
- Centered Pages - Whereas alot of older sites were aligned to the left of screens web 2.0 sites are mainly centered on the screen to add better balance and make the content stand out.
- Graduated Backgrounds and Logos - Rather than having a flat bold colour as a background web 2.0 sites are designed largely around a subtle and soft graduated tint in the background that is also reflected in the logo sometimes in a reflection like this.
- Larger and Clearer Text - Again from a more direct sales position the headings can say everything about a page and sometimes a product in a world where things are a lot faster that they used to be people won’t hang around on a page unless they see something to interest them.
Large Headings Draw Attention
- Bright Clear Icons - Colourful yet subtle icons are used to attract people to click onto other parts of sites and product pages and to attract them to new features like weblogs and RSS feeds like these samples.
Here at Taylors Print we have had to change the way we look at web design as people are noticing this new web style becoming more prominent, where as an old design consisted of trying to fit as many working elements onto a web page as possible, this new web 2.0 style has allowed people to spread information out and make it alot clearer leading your target audience where you want them to go.
